Baby Assassins 「ベイビーわるきゅーれ」 is an action comedy series about a pair of teenage slackers who are also hitmen. I love them.
It stars Akari Takaishi as Chisato Sugimoto and Saori Izawa as Mahiro Fukugawa. The creator and director is Yugo Sakamoto. All these people are younger than me and I don't like it.
My (somewhat reductive) pitch would be John Wick meets Derry Girls.
Come for the scrappy, fluid fight sequences, stay for the long takes lazing around on the sofa talking about food.
The Baby Assassins movie is followed by two sequels (2 Babies & Nice Days) which are tragically unavailable in the UK (but can be found abroad). There is also a surplus of audio dramas and documentaries with no English translation.
In the third movie, Chisato says something translated as "Peachy keen, Avril Lavigne!" - which is just a line from Community.
